Edinburg Officer Hospitalized After Collision with Suspected Drunk Driver

An Edinburg police officer was hospitalized Sunday, September 29, 2024, following a collision with a driver suspected of being intoxicated, according to a city news release.
The crash occurred shortly after noon at the intersection of 24th Avenue and Chapin Street. Authorities said the officer’s vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a Ford F-150.
While the officer was taken to the hospital, officials noted that they are expected to recover.
The driver of the Ford, who has not been identified, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Neither the police officer’s nor the suspected drunk driver’s names were released as of this morning.
