Tragic Drowning Incident at Apartment Pool

Edinburg, TX — On Friday, May 17, 2024, shortly before 5 p.m., Edinburg Police Department officers responded to a call at 1415 W. Freddy Gonzalez Dr. concerning a 6-year-old boy found unresponsive in an apartment complex pool. Upon arrival, officers immediately initiated chest compressions in an effort to resuscitate the child.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and transported the boy to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for further treatment. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, the child was pronounced deceased early on Saturday morning.
