UPDATED: Teen Detained in Edinburg Shooting Incident

Edinburg, TX — On Sunday, May 19, 2024, shortly after 6 p.m., officers from the Edinburg Police Department responded to a shooting incident on the 600 block of Pin Oak Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, 43-year-old Alvi Aristegui Puyg, deceased from a gunshot wound.

Through their investigation, officers detained 17-year-old Alberto Quintana, who was later arrested and charged with murder. An arraignment for Quintana is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Edinburg Municipal Court.
