Former Edinburg Chamber Board President Charged with DWI

Edinburg, TX — Mario Lizcano Jr., the former President of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce Board, was arrested early Saturday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated.

According to the Edinburg Police Department, officers observed a black Chevrolet Silverado stopped on the roadway in the 2600 block of S. Business Highway 281 at 2:03 a.m. Lizcano was found asleep behind the wheel, with the vehicle still in drive.

Upon arrival, authorities attempted to wake Lizcano. Once awake, he was instructed to put the vehicle in park. During the interaction, Lizcano identified himself as a Commissioner with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

Officers proceeded to administer field sobriety tests, and based on the results, Lizcano was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was subsequently booked into the Hidalgo County Jail.

Lizcano is well known in the community as a volunteer with numerous organizations. He is employed by DHR Hospitals.
