Edinburg Police Respond to Aggravated Robbery, Suspects Detained
Edinburg, TX — On Sunday, May 19, 2024, shortly after 6:30 p.m., officers from the Edinburg Police Department responded to a report of an aggravated robbery at 4420 W. University Dr.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who reported that while he was getting water, two unidentified males approached him and demanded his phone. The suspects then displayed a firearm, pushed the victim out of his vehicle—a black Ford Fiesta—and drove off with it.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) informed Edinburg PD that two males had been detained in the stolen Ford Fiesta for smuggling persons. A firearm was also recovered from the suspects. The individuals were identified as 18-year-old Christian Brayden Hardy and 18-year-old Jesus Jonathan Rodriguez. Both suspects are pending charges for aggravated robbery and are currently in federal custody.
