Edinburg PD Investigating Alleged Road Rage Incident

Edinburg, TX, Oct. 9, 2023 –  On Friday, October 6, 2023, shortly before noon, Edinburg PD received several calls for service in reference to a “road rage” incident near the intersection of 24th Ave and Schunior St. involving two vehicles, a gray Ford Escape, and a white Ford F-150. The incident then continued into the intersection of 25th Ave and Richardson Rd., where the driver of the Ford Escape failed to stop at the red light and struck a third vehicle. Upon arrival, Edinburg PD officers assisted in getting medical attention to all of the involved parties while obtaining statements from multiple witnesses. 

It was determined through the investigation that the incident was initiated on the roadway and then moved into private property. The driver of the Ford Escape allegedly exited his vehicle and retrieved a metal post from the bed of the Ford F-150 that was used to strike the truck and an occupant before both vehicles returned to the roadway. The driver of the Ford Escape, 27-year-old Erick Camarena of Edinburg, was placed under arrest for aggravated assault. The occupants of the third vehicle were transported to the hospital without major injuries. The occupant of the Ford F-150 that was struck with the metal post was also transported to the hospital without major injuries. 

This is an active investigation, and further arrests are possible.
