Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation Awarded $70,000 From Wyatt Ranches Foundation For Student Scholarships 

Edinburg, Texas, August 10, 2023 – The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation announced that it has been awarded a grant of $70,000 in funding for scholarships for Sheriff’s Office employees and families pursuing and continuing their higher education. 

With this generous contribution the Sheriff’s Foundation will be able to continue to award educational scholarships to employees or their dependents who are continuing their pursuit of higher education. With previous funding from the Wyatt Ranches Foundation, the Sheriff’s Foundation was able to award 17 $1,000 scholarships to new recipients, and 28 $500 scholarships to previous recipients who are continuing their education. Scholarship recipients and their families gathered at the 2023 Sheriff’s Foundation Scholarship Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, August 4, 2023. 

At the ceremony, Wyatt Ranches Division Livestock Foreman, Benito Garza Sr., Wyatt Ranches Aviation Captain Randy Merrill, and Wyatt Ranches Fleet Manager Daniel Torres presented a $70,000 grant check to Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. Eddie Guerra of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation from the Wyatt Ranches Foundation in support of the Sheriff’s Office. 

“On behalf of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Wyatt Ranches Foundation for its support of our efforts to encourage our employees and families to pursue their dreams through higher education,” said Sheriff J.E. Eddie Guerra. 

“The increased amount of grant funding is demonstrative of the Wyatt Ranches Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting public servants such as our Sheriff’s Office employees and their families as they seek to achieve their educational aspirations,” he continued, adding, “Congratulations to all scholarship recipients!”
