Edinburg TX, March 23, 2023
If you’ve been thinking about starting your own business, the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp taking place March 30th, 2023, at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, may be your first step to finally realize you dream.
Workforce Solutions (WFS) in partnership with the City of Edinburg, Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC), Rotary Club of Mission, Texas Workforce Solutions Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Advocates Searching for Independence LLC (A.S.I.), and Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension Program for the workshop.
During this bootcamp, participants will learn from the experts and gain entrepreneurial skills and techniques that will improve their venture’s chances of success and/or growth. The participants will learn how to formulate business plans and learn to establish an employer identification number (EIN). Other event topics will cover the importance of registering a business with the government to follow federal and state tax reporting regulations. Marketing plans will be discussed as guest speakers will be teaching participants how to advertise their business on Google, Facebook, or through email.
“The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is a support system for aspiring entrepreneurs who need real business knowledge in a nurturing environment. Individuals may be starting up on their own, but they don’t have to do it alone.” said Francisco Almaraz, WFS Chief Executive Officer. “They have great business ideas and it’s our mission to help bring them to fruition.”
“Small businesses make up almost all of the jobs in our market. Although many small businesses have been successful here, nationwide over 20% of small enterprises fail in their first year, and nearly half of the small startups fail within five years. This Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is exactly what many small businesses need to gain that edge and overcome the odds,” added Raudel Garza, EEDC Executive Director.
“The overwhelming amount of RSVPs from the public has prompted us to plan a second bootcamp in the upcoming months with the intent of creating more opportunities,” said Elzie Martinez, event coordinator and Student HireAbility Navigator at WFS.
Workforce Solutions serves as the governing body for the workforce development area that includes Hidalgo, Willacy, and Starr counties. The primary goal of the WFS Board is to respond to the needs of local employers and workers through locally designed demand-driven workforce development initiatives.
