Each year, Hidalgo County Urban County Program receives approximately $10.6 million in annual grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the following federal programs:
-Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
-HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), and
-Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)
In addition, the City of Edinburg receives approximately $1.1 million in CDBG funding annually; the City of Mission receives approximately $1 million in CDBG funding annually, and the City of McAllen receives $2.5 million in CDBG, HOME and ESG annually. These funds support housing and community development activities to build stronger and more resilient neighborhoods, principally for persons of low- to moderate-income.
As part of its five-year planning process, Hidalgo County and the cities of Edinburg, McAllen and Mission would like your input on the future use of its CDBG, HOME, and ESG allocations.
Your participation in the Community Needs Survey will help inform Hidalgo County and the Cities of Edinburg, McAllen and Mission on how best to allocate investments in its respective communities over the next five years (FY 2023-2027).
