Edinburg’s Sales Tax Collections Up In First Month Of The Year

Edinburg TX — January 12, 2023

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today that the City of Edinburg received $2,899,449.63 in local sales tax allocations for January, 2.72 percent more than in January 2022.

Edinburg’s sales tax collection rates are slightly above the total Hidalgo County. Sales tax collections for all of the cities in Hidalgo County were up 2.6%, compared to Edinburg’s 2.72%.

These allocations are based on sales made in November by businesses that report tax monthly.

Edinburg’s city tax collections are channeled into the city’s general budget.
