UTRGV And ECISD To Break Ground On New Collegiate High School On Tuesday

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – NOV. 23, 2022 – A groundbreaking ceremony for the UTRGV Edinburg CISD Collegiate High School will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m.

The ceremony will take place at 1407 E. Freddy Gonzalez Drive where a state-of-the-art 85,000-square-foot facility will be constructed.

UTRGV and Edinburg CISD entered a partnership on March 23 to provide dynamic educational opportunities to enrich the academic experience for students and facilitate a more seamless transition from high school to postsecondary education. 

Classes began this August for the Collegiate High School with more than 200 students taking courses in temporary portable buildings.

The Collegiate High School offers a traditional high school curriculum, with special emphasis on Dual-Credit Educational Programs, as well as postsecondary higher-education programs, for undergraduate or higher courses of study provided by UTRGV. Academic programming includes pathways in the areas of education, engineering, computer science and health professions.
