Hometown Heroes To Be Honored At MOSTHistory
EDINBURG, Texas — The Museum of South Texas History presents “Hometown Heroes of South Texas: A Veterans Day Exhibit” opening Saturday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m.
The Rio Grande Valley has a long history of military service and to commemorate this service, the museum will highlight four individuals who bravely served: Jerry Arteaga, Gina Guajardo, Jessica Villarreal and Jose Villarreal.
The veterans shared their collections with the museum and will be featured in the temporary exhibit. Personal collection items include uniforms, medals, photographs, letters and other sentimental possessions from deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Visitors can learn more about the veterans being honored through a video produced by MOSTHistory that will be played within the exhibit.
“Hometown Heroes of South Texas” opens Saturday, Nov. 5, coinciding with the Veterans Day Parade in Edinburg. The exhibit closes Sunday, Nov. 27, and is included in the regular museum admission fees.
MOSTHistory is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about the exhibit, please contact Collections and Exhibits Coordinator Melissa Peña at 956-383-6911 or [email protected].
