Edinburg PD Arrest Additional Suspect In Multimillion Dollar Case; Recover Additional $900K In Stolen Property

Over the course of a six-month-long investigation, Edinburg Police have recovered over $3.1 million dollars in stolen property, including several vehicles, heavy machinery, tractor-trailers, and more. The property was recovered from multiple locations and cities across the Rio Grande Valley.

In April 2022, an estimated $2.2M in property was recovered and three individuals were charged for suspected roles in the burglary scheme. Daniel Guerra, Juan Guerra III, and Omar Canchola Garcia were charged with multiple felony counts of theft, burglary of a building, and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Since their arrests, the Edinburg Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit has been working diligently on this case following up on leads and allowing them to recover an additional $900,000 in stolen property. Additional items recovered in the last two months include eight trailers, two John Deere tractors, one John Deere utility vehicle, 2 CAT telehandlers, one CAT bulldozer, a Chevrolet HD pickup truck, a Ford Transit van, two scissor lifts, surveying equipment, and miscellaneous farming/machinery equipment. 32-year-old Jorge Gonzalez of Edinburg, Texas was found in possession of $700,000 worth of the stolen items and has subsequently been charged with 2nd Degree Felony Theft. Gonzalez was arraigned Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at Edinburg Municipal Court and given a $25,000 personal recognizance bond.
