Edinburg to Honor Local Veterans & Serving Military Personnel
Do you know an Edinburg veteran or active duty service member? Would you like to recognize a hometown hero for their service to our country? The city of Edinburg is accepting submissions for the Boulevard of Heroes Banners Program. All you need to do is bring their dress uniform photo and information about the veteran you would like to recognize to the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, located at 1906 South Closner Boulevard. The deadline for submissions is September 15, 2022.
The Boulevard of Heroes Banners Program is part of the city of Edinburg’s ongoing effort to honor and recognize Edinburg’s brave men and women who have served our country or are currently enlisted in our military. Each photo and information gathered will be incorporated into a commemorative banner that will then be installed on a post along Closner Boulevard also known as “The Boulevard of Heroes”.
Aside from the photo, residents will need to provide the veteran’s full name, address, branch of service, rank, years of service, and any medal/s received. The Boulevard of Heroes Banners Program is sponsored by the City of Edinburg and the H-E-B Operation Appreciation program.
