9 Candidates In Race For 4 Seats On ECISD Board

Nine candidates have signed up for four seats on the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees. The Election is set for Tuesday, November 2.

Potential candidates had from July 23 to Aug. 22 to sign up for a place on the ballot. Candidates drew for positions on the ballot on Aug. 24.

For Place 1, the order of candidates is:

• Jaime Cavazos – challenger

• Frank Lara – challenger

• Dominga “Minga” Vela – incumbent

For Place 2, the order of candidates is:

• Oscar Salinas – incumbent

• Letty Flores – challenger

For Place 3, the order of candidates is:

• Leticia “Letty” Garcia – incumbent

• Maricela De Leon – challenger

For Place 4, the order of candidates is:

• Xavier Salinas – incumbent

• Shelly Duffey – challenger

Early voting will run from October 24 through November 4, 2022. Early voting locations will be open Monday through Saturday, October 24-29, 2022, from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, and Monday through Saturday, October 31 – November 4, 2022, from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Early voting and Election Day voting locations will be announced by the Hidalgo County Elections Office, which will handle the election
