Edinburg Sales Taxes Continue Strong Growth
(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced yesterday the latest distribution of local sales tax allocations for Edinburg for the month of June 2022. The Comptroller’s report indicates Edinburg’s retail sales continue their upward growth.
Edinburg’s sales taxes increased by 13.56% for June 2022 compared to June 2021, jumping to $2,9123,559.50 from $2,564,707.63. The year-to-date sales taxes growth was also strong as it increased by 14.78% for this year compared to last year.
Edinburg’s growth outpaced Hidalgo County’s growth, as the county’s month-to-month growth was only 10.26%. However, the County’s year-to-date sales tax increased by 16.60%.
City leaders credited the strong sales taxes as indicators of the city’s strong economy. They pointed to the opening of a number of new commercial and retail sites and developments during the last six months
These allocations are based on sales made in April by businesses that report tax monthly.
