Regional Infusion Center for COVID-19 to close operations on April 19

MISSION – Hidalgo County’s Emergency Management Coordinator Ricardo Saldaña announced today that the Regional Infusion Center for COVID-19 at Mission Regional Medical Center will close operations on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

At the request of Hidalgo County, the State of Texas, through the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) opened the Regional Infusion Center in Edinburg in August of 2021. It was relocated to Mission in February of 2022. Since it opened last year, more than 6,200 residents have received the monoclonal antibody therapeutics free of charge to treat COVID-19 symptoms.

The Regional Infusion Center was requested by Hidalgo County based on need for services in our community. The current demand at this center has decreased considerably, and the State and the County have agreed that current demand can be met by private facilities in the region. If the need arises in the future, we will respond accordingly.
