EDINBURG – Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Eastside Soccer Park on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in Edinburg.

Commissioner Ellie Torres has plans to enhance and increase park amenities for public use of dedicated land located at the Pueblo de Palmas Phase 22 and 23 at North Cesar Chavez and Mile 19. The improvements will include soccer fields, restrooms, single and inclusive playground systems, a half-court concrete basketball slab, picnic facilities and grilling stations, parking, and landscaping.

Through the generosity of Gary J. Frisby of PDP Mile 4, LTP, a total of 11.697 acres of park land was dedicated to Hidalgo County in 2019. The park is located at the northeastern part of Precinct 4 and will be open to hundreds of families around the area. The name Eastside Soccer Park is the vision of Commissioner Ellie Torres. “As a county leader, my vision for Precinct 4 is to provide outdoor access to families in each area throughout the Precinct. Eastside is fitting to the strong competitive spirit of this rural northeastern side of Edinburg- Eastside, Strong Side!”, said Commissioner Ellie Torres.

The park will offer residents an outdoor venue that offers an opportunity to engage in recreational and healthy living activities and improve the quality of life. The event is open to the public and it will also be hosted LIVE via the Precinct 4 Facebook page. Social distancing and masks at your comfort level.
