Edinburg Police Department to Launch Teen Police Academy

Edinburg, TX — The Edinburg Police Department is set to introduce the ‘Edinburg Teen Police Academy,’ a new initiative designed to foster a positive relationship between city youth and law enforcement while sparking interest in careers in the field.

The week-long program will offer participants hands-on experience with core police functions, including patrol, special operations, and crime scene investigation. These activities will take place at the CPL Derek Hernandez Police Training Facility, located at 1309 N. Doolittle Road.

The academy is free of charge and open to high school students from the City of Edinburg, whether they attend public, private, or are homeschooled. Eligible students must be entering the 10th, 11th, or 12th grades in the 2024-2025 school year.
